HAVE A FANTABULOUS WEEKEND

GOLDEN RULES FOR TRADING

Divide your Risk Capital in 10 Equal Parts.
As part of the Successful money management, it is always advised to divide your Risk Capital (which you can afford to lose) into 10 equal Parts and at any given time none of your Single Trade should have more than 3 parts of your capital in it even if you are in a winning position. At the same time always keep some spare money for any Buying Opportunity, which may come any time.

Trade ONLY in active & high Volume Stocks/ Futures.
Many Traders get stuck with stocks for want of liquidity. Always rely upon Stocks which have reasonably high volume over a period of time. High Volume are always advised for easy Entry, Exit and Stop Loss. In low volume stocks the spread is too high and chance of Stop Loss limit getting failed is too high as there would be no Buyer or seller at your Stop Loss Level.

Come Prepared with a Trading Plan
Successful traders always keep their Trading Plans ready before entering into any transactions. One must prepare a Watch List or Probable candidates for Day's trading and remain focused on the movement of those stocks only. For example a Stock 'X' is on verge of a Bullish Breakout from any pattern or stock 'Y' has declined substantially after an initial sharp up move or stock 'Z' is close to an important support level. Successful trader would concentrate on the movement of those stocks only and enter the trade as soon as stock 'X' gives the anticipated breakout or stock 'Y' starts an upmove or stock 'Z' breaks the support level to initiate a trade for quick gains.

Never Over Trade
This is the most common mistake committed by Traders, particularly after a Streak of winning Trades. This mistake Generally not only wipes off all the profits, but puts traders in heavy losses. In order to remain in market while making consistent Profits, under no circumstances, traders should go beyond their Risk Capital.

Trade in 2 to 4 Stocks at a time with strict Stop Loss.
In a Bull move, most of the stocks move up and similarly in any Bear Move, most of the stock moves southwards. As a Trader you know this fact but can you Buy 20 Stocks and try to make profit in all the 20 stocks just because all are moving up or vice versa in a Down trend? What will happen if market reverses without any indication on any bad news? Would you be able to monitor all your trades in such situation? Smart and Successful trader would trade in 2 to 4 stocks with strict Stop Loss and keep a strict vigil to avoid any misfortune in case of any eventuality.

Sell Short as often as you go Long.
More than 90% of common investors/ Traders are 'Bulls' by nature. Because they love to see prices going up only. Stocks are bought by anybody/ corporate/ financial institutions/ Mutual Funds to make profit on rise. They have large holdings and mentally they wish and pray for the market to rise only. But facts are different. History shows that Bull Phases have shorter duration that Bear phases. So every stock that moves up will retrace back to 38%-50%-66%. Since 90% investors are Bulls by heart they normally do not book profit at higher levels to re-enter later at lower levels instead they prefer to increase their portfolio at lower levels. Successful Traders know how to capitalize such correction. They are always prepared to go 'Short' as often as they trade on 'Long' side.

Don't Trade if you are not Clear.
Many Traders, because of their daily habits trade even when there are no signals to buy or short. Normally such situation arrives after a sharp rise or decline when stocks are adjusting their values. While some stocks attempt to move up, few may be taking breather before next move. Such situation are often confusing. There is no harm in taking rest for a day or two or short period if the trend is choppy, unclear or doubtful, instead of putting your money at higher risk.

Don't expect Profit on Every Trade.
If you consider you are a smart trader who can make profit on every trade, you are 100% wrong. Always be flexible and accept the fact as soon as you realize that you are on wrong side of the trade. Simply get out of the trade without changing your strategy during the market; it may cause you double losses.

Withdraw portion of your profits.
The business of Trading is excellent as long as you are making profits. Unlike other business your losses can be unlimited and rapid if market does not move as per your expectations. While in other businesses you may have other remedial measures available but in trading it is you only who has to control it. Traders have large egos particularly after series of successful trades and their tendency to enlarge commitments in overconfidence may cause major financial setback. Therefore it is must that trader must take a portion of the profit and put it in separate account. This is absolutely must for long term stability in the market.

HAVE A FANTASTIC THURSDAY

FUNDAMENTAL V/S TECHNICAL ANALYSIS

There are two general schools of stock analysis: fundamental and technical. This feature describes the two schools and the key differences between them.

Fundamental Analysis
Fundamental stock analysis requires, among other things, a close examination of the financial statements for the company to determine its current financial strength, future growth and profitability prospects, and current management skills, in order to estimate whether the stock's price is undervalued or overvalued.

A good deal of reliance is placed on annual and quarterly earnings reports, the economic, political and competitive environment facing the company, as well as any current news items or rumours relating to the company's operations.

Simply put, fundamental analysis concerns itself with the "basics" of the business in assessing the worth of a stock. Numerous ratios, derived from balance sheet and income statement data, are used in fundamental analysis including such widely used ratios as, Working Capital Ratio, Debt-equity Ratio, Return on Equity Ratio, Earnings per Share, etc.

Fundamental analysis may be the preferred method to use for mid to longer term investors. However, it is not suitable for use by day traders because of the amount of research required, and the fact that trades are entered into and exited within a very short time frame.

Technical Analysis
Technical analysis does not concern itself with a company's basics or fundamentals. Rather, technical analysis involves the study of a stock's trading patterns through the use of charts, trend lines, support and resistance levels, and many other mathematical analysis tools, in order to predict future movements in a stock's price, and to help identify trading opportunities.

The basic foundations or premises of technical analysis are that a stock's current price discounts all information available in the market, that price movements are not random, and that patterns in price movements, in very many cases, tend to repeat themselves or trend in some direction.

Bob Prechter, a famous practitioner of technical analysis once commented that, "... the main problem with fundamental analysis is that its indicators are removed from the market itself. The analyst assumes causality between external events and market movements, a concept which is almost certainly false.

But, just as important, and less recognized, is that fundamental analysis almost always requires a forecast of the fundamental data itself before conclusions about the market are drawn. The analyst is then forced to take a second step in coming to a conclusion about how those forecasted events will affect the markets!

Technicians only have one step to take, which gives them an edge right off the bat. Their main advantage is that they don't have to forecast their indicators."

A very large number of technical indicators have been developed over the years, including the widely used overbought/oversold indicators such as the Relative Strength Index, and the trend following indicators such as Moving Averages.

While technical analysis can be a great help in trading the market, no technical indicator is infallible. Further, technical analysis is only as good as its interpreter. Finally, a significant of time must be spent in learning the principles of technical analysis, and in how to properly interpret the various charts and other technical indicators.

PERSONALITY TRAITS OF SUCCESSFUL TRADERS

Personality
What are the key personality traits that successful day traders tend to have in common? Here are some of the most important ones:

Confidence
This is perhaps the most important personality trait of good day traders. You won't succeed at day trading unless you have a high measure of confidence in yourself. Lack of self-confidence will result in doubt, indecision and second-guessing which, in turn, will lead to missed trading opportunities and frequent losses. You must believe in yourself when day trading. If not, you will be better off pursuing some other endeavor.

Discipline
In order to day trade successfully, you must develop a trading plan and consistently stick to it. You must avoid a "shooting from the hip" or a "seat of the pants approach" to day trading. Get out of the market when you have reached your objective and do not let emotions like fear and greed influence your trading decisions.

Decisiveness
Good day traders do not hesitate to "pull the trigger" when entering and exiting trades. Traders who are in the habit of being tentative or indecisive will never become successful.

Passion
Most successful day traders have a true love or passion about their trading activities. If you do not enjoy reading charts, dealing with numbers, reading market news, interpreting quote screens, learning new trading strategies and working independently in a fast-paced environment, then day trading is probably not your cup of tea.

Ability to Accept Failure
Good day traders know that many of their trades will fail to meet the original objective. They do not, however seek to blame someone else for their loss, and they don't dwell on it. They attempt to learn from their mistakes and move on to the next trade.

Ability to Accept Risk
Another personality trait of good traders is that they are comfortable with risk and are prepared to lose money from time to time. If you are afraid that you will, on occasion, lose money, then day trading is not for you.

Patience
Good traders do not rush into trades. They take the time to select good trading opportunities and do not place orders simply for the sake of holding a position in the markets at all times. On some market days, where few good trading opportunities exist, they are content to simply stand aside and wait.

Concentration
In day trading, a great deal of real-time information has to be absorbed, analyzed and acted upon in intense bursts throughout the trading day. This requires a great deal of concentration and stamina on the part of the trader, and the ability to avoid distractions. Day trading can be very hard work and a lack of concentration can doom a trader to failure.

HAVE A GREAT TUESDAY

MONEY MANAGEMENT

A crucial aspect of day trading Money management, also referred to as "risk management, is absolutely critical to successful day trading on an ongoing basis. Many traders regard it as the single most important aspect of trading. Indeed, lack of proper money management is a major cause of failure among new traders. There is little doubt that practicing good money management will lead to more traders being able to achieve success, or to avoid devastating failures.

Capital Preservation is the Goal

One of the main ideas behind money management is to preserve capital so as to enable one to live to trade another day. Before you ever enter a trade, the first thing you should ask yourself is how much money am I risking here and can I afford to lose it? One of the most common mistakes new day traders make is that of "risking the whole wad" on one or two stocks.
There is not a quicker way to face disastrous results than engaging in this practice. Bearing too much risk in trying to secure a huge win in a single stock isn't worth it, if the risk can knock you out of the trading game due to a very large loss of capital. Attempting to get the big win may be exhilarating, but failure in the attempt can wipe you out.

The 2% Rule of Thumb

There is a so-called "rule of thumb" in the day trading world which states that you shouldn't risk more than 2% of your total trading capital on any one trade. Doing so ensures you can make many bad trades and still not be knocked out of the game. Despite this general rule of thumb, many traders will define their maximum risk tolerance level differently. Larry Hite, an experienced day trader, has said: "Never risk more than 2% of your total equity in any one trade. By risking 2%, I am indifferent to any individual trade. Keeping your risk small and constant is absolutely critical." The idea here is that no one trade is going to significantly affect you if it results in a loss. If a trade goes against you, you are not going to go broke, or have to sell your house, car, art and jewelry in order to continue trading. The way to define risk for purposes of the 2% rule is by determining the loss you will incur if the stock price goes down. For example, if you own 1000 shares of XYZ at Rs.100 with a Rs.2 stop loss order in place, your risk is: Rs.2 * 1000 = Rs.2,000. So long as you have capital amounting to at least Rs.100,000 on hand, you would not be considered to be in breach of this "rule".

Cut Losses, Let Profits Run

There is an old investing adage about cutting ones losses and letting profits run. What this means is that you should strive to keep your losses manageable, and ensure that no single trade does too much damage. The thinking here is that if you keep the losses small, the profits will take care of themselves. In the case of profits, you can exit the position once you have determined that you have earned a sufficiently "large" enough amount. But, what exactly is a small loss? What's a large enough profit? There is no one answer, and what is right for one trader will not necessarily be right for another.
